BLUNT CASSETTE RELEASE ‘VOICES FROM THE CELLAR’ 1989

Remember those 60 minute or 90 minute BASF/SONY tapes? Remember when a friend or an acquaintance would hand you one at a gig, then demand that you go home and listen to their compilations. Well, this cassette was put together with love sometime in 1989. It was subsequently launched at both the Evil Star in Surry Hills on Elizabeth St and The Journalists Club on Chalmers St (again Surry Hills but where else?) We knew other fans would cherish it, and despite the smallish run, it was well received.

Of course a lot of thanks go out to the bands who agreed to be on it. Also to those who helped with all the nuts and bolts – for example, John Locke who I got to know from hanging out with Living With Robert ( the brother of Tony their bassist). John helped immeasurably with this release by committing to the painstaking process of assembling the weird and wonderful to an actual playlist. The late Ben Hession, who I knew from Radio Skid Row was also supportive. Ben was the MC at the initial launch at the Evil Star and also contributed to Blunt with his poetry.

Vicky Lobregat, who I also knew from Living With Robert, did all the artwork.

Note – fingers crossed that this will be digitalised.
